Sophie Zelmani (born 12 February 1972 as Sophie Edkvist) is a Swedish singer-songwriter from Stockholm who debuted in 1995 with the single "Always You" on Sony Music. Self-taught and famously reclusive, she sent home-recorded demos to three labels and landed a deal that launched a debut album selling 200,000 copies across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. She won Best Newcomer at the Swedish Grammy Awards in 1996 and has since released more than twelve studio albums, most recently "Lake Geneva" in April 2025, marking thirty years as a recording artist.
Sophie Zelmani released the compilation album "30" on November 28, 2025 to celebrate 30 years as an artist with 30 selected songs from her entire career.
Zelmani performed at the world premiere of photographer Anton Corbijn's retrospective exhibition at Fotografiska Stockholm on June 12, 2025.
New studio album "Lake Geneva" was released on April 11, 2025 - Zelmani's 14th studio album, recorded with longtime collaborator Lars Halapi.
The single "The Human Heart" was released in February 2025 as a preview of "Lake Geneva" and as a celebration of the 30-year anniversary.
Sophie Zelmani participated in the popular Swedish TV music show "Så mycket bättre" (season 15) on TV4 in autumn 2024.
