A String Of Pearls - Danish Big Band Jazz in 100 Years
Big band Unoderne celebrates a century of Danish jazz with a concert series featuring ten melodies from each decade, narrated by jazz historian Henrik Schultz-Petersen.
Bigbandet Unoderne is an amateur big band from Syddjurs, founded in 1987 and based at Kulturhotellet in Rønde. The 18-piece ensemble plays swing, blues, Latin and funk from a repertoire of more than 120 numbers, with a deliberate emphasis on music you can dance to. The band founded the Jazz på Djurzz festival at Maltfabrikken in Ebeltoft and also organises Djurzz Forårs Jazz, a gathering for amateur jazz musicians. In 2026 they mark the centenary of Danish jazz with the concert series "A String Of Pearls", tracing a decade-by-decade history of Danish big band jazz.
