When Haderslev Diocese and Bishop Valdemar Ammundsen took office in April 1923, they faced major challenges. Ammundsen dreamed of a shared church life across Danish and German lines - but the beginning was difficult, and it was not until the 1990s that full harmony was achieved between the two church communities.
