Bat Safari
Join us on Friday, August 28, as we venture into the twilight around Silkeborg Langsø and Lillesø near Nordskoven to experience bats in their natural habitat. Hopefully, we will both hear and see these fascinating nocturnal animals as they hunt for food.
The tour begins with an introduction to bat life, their behavior, habitats, and their role in the ecosystem. Then, armed with bat detectors, we venture into the darkness to spot and listen to different bat species. Bats use echolocation to navigate and find food. Their sounds are normally beyond human hearing, but with the detectors, the night comes alive with sound and movement.
The event is for both curious adults and adventurous children. No prior knowledge is required - just curiosity and a desire to experience nature in a new way. Bring a flashlight and wear practical clothing and footwear.
Bat detectors cannot withstand rain, so if rain is forecast, we will have to cancel.
