KlimaCafé1: From Growth Society to Life Society

When did we start confusing a good life with more consumption? And how did growth become society's most important measure?

This is the starting point for Lise Coermann Mathiesen's lecture, where she focuses on a number of fundamental contradictions in modern society. Growth was originally a word for the unfolding of life - today we measure it in economic activity and resource extraction. This creates a desperate paradox: the more successful society becomes on its own terms, the greater the pressure on nature.

The lecture raises the question of whether it is possible to organize a society where the most important thing is not to produce and consume more, and Lise Coermann Mathiesen examines both opportunities and challenges in a green transition to a sustainable life society.
