Lecture with Johannes Langkilde: My Cousin is a Chief in Samoa — Fregatten Jylland, Ebeltoft

As a child, journalist and TV host Johannes Langkilde heard stories about a chief in his family and relatives on the distant Pacific island of Samoa. Many years later, these tales became reality when he met his distant relative, Chief Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde, while working as a correspondent in the USA.

The trail leads back to Johannes' great-great-grandfather, Hans Alfred Langkilde, who left Denmark in 1869 and settled on the other side of the world. Along the way, Johannes discovers a large family he never knew he had - and even ends up being offered a chief's title himself. The lecture also paints a picture of Samoa, the island nation's culture, and the traditions that still shape life in the Pacific.

Johannes Langkilde is a journalist, TV host, and author, known for his work as a foreign correspondent and news anchor.
