Book Club: 'Pigedyr' by Cecilie Lind

The Book Club is for everyone who enjoys reading and discussing books together. Librarian Rikke Frisenette hosts and leads the conversation about this month's book.

November's selection is 'Pigedyr' by Cecilie Lind - a poetic novel about being a girl, living through puberty, desire and being desired, about being both strong and weak. Sara, who is neither child nor adult, longs and falls in love, until she suddenly finds herself on the border between power and powerlessness, love and abuse. The priest's hands and her friend's father's hands rest on her forehead, her chest. Men will take and give.

Cecilie Lind received the Critics' Prize for the novel, which has just been adapted into a film starring Trine Dyrholm, Christian Tafdrup and Thure Lindhardt - and the book club is reading it ahead of the premiere.
