Witch Hunt in Køge - The Story of Køge Huskors — Køge Bibliotek, Køge

Archive director Anette Månsson, curator of the exhibition BESAT at Køge Museum, presents a lecture on the research behind the show - revealing surprising details that didn't make it onto the exhibition panels. Though the Køge witch trials took place over 400 years ago, the witch hunts still live in the town's collective memory.

The lecture follows the hunt for the devil from the Town Square to Bygårdsstræde and from the vicarage to the royal castle. Sixteen women were accused of witchcraft; only one survived.

This event is part of Heksedage - a series of October events exploring the many meanings of the witch: as primal force, persecuted figure, wisdom keeper, herbalist, and symbol of resistance. Heksedage is created by KøgeBibliotekerne, Teaterbygningen, and Køge Arkiverne in collaboration with Køge Museum, Ungekulturhuset Tappen, Køge Kunstforening, and other cultural organizations in Køge Municipality.
