'The Logic of Peace' in a Time of War — Køge Bibliotek, Køge

Lecturer and Ph.D. Isabel Bramsen draws on her critically acclaimed book 'The Logic of Peace' to argue that peace does not emerge from summits, but from concrete encounters between people. She illustrates this with examples from historical and contemporary conflicts - sex strikes, humor, diplomacy, and everyday courage - and shows how enmity can be replaced by understanding.

The lecture is part of the event 'War and Peace', which Køge Library is hosting in connection with the UN's International Day of Peace on September 21. The same evening also features the lecture 'The Power Games of War', and together the two presentations focus on the conditions for war and peace in a time marked by rearmament and global tensions.

Isabel Bramsen is head of Peace and Conflict Studies at Lund University, member of Nordic Women Mediators, mediator at the Center for Conflict Resolution, and recipient of, among others, the Hesbjerg Peace Prize.

Location: The Facts section on the ground floor, Køge Library.
