We Build a Sound Wall

In this workshop, children and adults build a sound wall together. Everyone starts by making their own sound box: a brown cardboard box filled with one type of material - it could be scrap, natural materials, or other discarded items. Because each box contains only one material, it has its own unique sound. When the boxes are assembled, a symphony of different sounds emerges.

Once your box is ready, you choose a symbol that matches your sound - is it crunchy, crackling, soft, shrill, bright, dark, short or long? When the entire wall is complete, everyone can play together and create a shared sound landscape. Music anthropologist Eva Fock leads the workshop.

The workshop is open Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 to 15:30 with a break in the middle. It is for all ages, but younger children need help from an adult.

The workshop is part of the BIG BANG festival. One ticket gives access to a full festival day - at the info booth, the ticket is exchanged for a wristband that provides free access to all activities and performances where there is space. The festival takes place at Amagers Musiktorv and in Amager Bio, BETA, Teater ZeBU and Børnekulturhus Ama'r. For indoor performances with limited capacity, places can be booked at the info booth upon arrival. Snacks and drinks can be purchased on site, or you can bring your own.
