Writing Workshop: How Do You Edit Your Own and Others' Texts?

Editing is one of the most important elements of writing - and it's the focus of this workshop. Using short texts such as poetry and short prose as a starting point, the instructor covers tips and techniques, with exercises throughout. You'll also have the opportunity to give feedback on others' texts and receive advice on how to work with an editor if your manuscript is accepted by a publisher.

The instructor is Christel Sunesen, publisher and editor at Ekbátana publishing house, which publishes new Danish literature and cross-disciplinary works. For her publishing work, she has received the Diploma for Appreciation of Fine Book Craftsmanship 2023 from the Association for Book Crafts and the Sigvaldi Prize from the Danish Arts Foundation. She is also the initiator of the literature festival Lille Bogdag and co-owner of the online bookstore Mikrofest with Lars Emil Foder. Additionally, she has written research articles and served as editor and member of the Center for Genre Studies at the University of Copenhagen.

The workshop is part of Copenhagen Public Libraries' monthly writing workshops - standalone two-hour events where the instructor presents, leads exercises, and answers questions.

The workshop is for adults (18-100+) and runs from 10:00 to 12:00. Participation is free but requires registration on Billetto. Bring your own laptop (fully charged) and/or paper and pen - computers are not provided. Questions can be directed to Jesper at jemarc@kk.dk or Caroline at b23p@kk.dk.
