Free entry

SPIL DANSK concert with En:1: Monday 26 October 2026, 19:30–20:30, Hovedbiblioteket, Viborg. Admission is free.

The duo En:1 consists of Thomas Birch on guitar and Carina Juul on nyckelharpa. They play intimate, simple arrangements and new interpretations of melodies from Nordic and French dance music, as well as original folk compositions.

The nyckelharpa's medieval sound - created by its drone and resonance strings - meets the guitar's crisp tones, forming a distinctive sonic landscape. Melody, swing feel, or a particular mood binds the repertoire together.

Both have previously played in the Balkan/rock band Rækværk and the folk band Rauna. The desire to explore new directions together led to the formation of En:1.

Arranged in collaboration with Folkestedet, Kulturselskabet, and Spil Dansk.

About: En:1

Thomas Birch and Carina Juul have been bringing Nordic and French dance music to stages across Denmark and Scandinavia since forming En:1 in 2017. Their stripped-back guitar-and-nyckelharpa format puts the melody and the instruments' contrasting timbres front and centre.
