Author Lecture Niels Krause-Kjær: Ude for uden

Niels Krause-Kjær presents his novel "Ude for uden", published in August 2025. The book is fiction rooted in a concrete discovery: a travel journal from the National Archives, written by his father and his father's folk high school friends over half a century. It is a different project from his earlier novels - a personal account of Denmark in transformation.

The story follows Erik, a young farmer who, after World War II, throws himself into work to secure his family's future. Alongside his wife Lisbet, he faces hard labour, drought, and loss - and the two watch as the way of life they know gradually disappears, and former heroes are redefined as villains in a new era.
