A pocket altar is a small textile work that expresses something personal and meaningful to its owner. The tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, when travelers carried a small altar with them for prayer and comfort on their journeys.

In this workshop, you will hand-sew your own pocket altar - no experience with embroidery or different stitches is necessary. You work with symbols and messages that matter to you personally, and you don't need to be religious to participate. Feel free to bring a small, pointed scissors as well as charms, fabric scraps, or other small items with personal meaning that can be sewn on.

The workshop runs in two sessions, and you can attend both or just one:
