Learn Ceramic Wheel Throwing - 10-Week Course with Marianne Krumbach

Ceramic Wheel Throwing at Keramikværkstedet KFF: 9 November – 18 January 2026, Keramikværkstedet KFF, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 3200 kr.

A 10-week beginner course in wheel throwing held in the cosy ceramic studio at Vesterbro Library and Cultural Centre. The course is for you if you've never thrown before, or if you need more practice with the fundamentals. Over the course you'll work on centring, pulling up to a cylinder, and throwing simple forms. You'll also learn trimming, attaching handles, and glazing. You'll be introduced to different stoneware clays suitable for throwing and the tools used in the process. Each session ends with thorough cleaning.

Your instructor is Marianne Krumbach, trained at the Design School in Kolding. She works daily from her studio in Copenhagen NV and in recent years has primarily focused on modelled, nature-inspired sculptural objects, though also periodically on thrown projects. She has exhibited in Denmark and abroad. More about her work can be found at www.mariannekrumbach.dk and on instagram.com/mariannekrumbach.

The price covers instruction and materials, including 8 kg of clay plus firing and glazing. Extra clay can be purchased, up to 3 kg. Participants are expected to help with tidying and cleaning on equal terms with other studio users; the studio may only be used during class hours. Bring clothes that can get dirty.

The course runs over 10 Mondays from 9 November 2026 to 18 January 2027, with no class in week 53 (28 December 2026). There are 10 places available. English-speaking participants can request translation - let the instructor know at the first class. Participants' experience levels may vary, as the course is designed for both complete beginners and those with some experience. Tickets cannot be refunded from 14 days before the course starts.
