Parlons de... Parlons de Françoise Gilot - The Woman Who Said No to Picasso
Institut Français, Frederiksberg · 125 kr. · ≈ 17 €
Françoise Gilot - The Woman Who Said No to Picasso: Wednesday 17 March 2027, 13:00–14:00, Institut Français, Frederiksberg. Tickets cost 125 kr.
Françoise Gilot - painter, author, and an extraordinary figure in 20th-century art - was Pablo Picasso's partner for nearly a decade. He called her "the woman who says no", but despite their relationship, she always followed her own artistic path and developed a deeply personal expression. Philippe Puisais tells the story of her life and career.
After breaking with Picasso, she literally put an ocean between them and moved to the USA, where she continued working as an artist until her death in 2023. Her works now hang in museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
In 1964, she published the book "Life with Picasso", which became an international bestseller: translated into 16 languages and sold in over a million copies. Picasso attempted unsuccessfully to have it banned in France.
The lecture is held in easily understandable French.
