In this edition of Stjernestunder, Royal Ballet soloist Astrid Grarup Elbo and her sister, musician and composer Katrine Grarup Elbo, meet in a performance curated especially for the occasion. Here dance and music appear as equal forms of expression, and the audience is invited into the meeting between the two sisters' artistic universes.

Astrid Grarup Elbo draws on her love of the ballet world, but simultaneously challenges the female roles and stereotypes she has encountered throughout her career in the field. She explores ballet's untold stories and asks what happens when the ballerina leaves the prescribed role and speaks for herself. Astrid is a soloist at the Royal Danish Ballet and received multiple five-star reviews in 2023 for the lead role in I AM GOLD at Betty Nansen Theatre.

Katrine Grarup Elbo works as a violinist, composer and performer at the intersection of composition, improvisation, performance and installation. For years she has explored how music can emerge and move in dialogue with space, body and audience, including as the artistic driving force behind La Mia Bella Sorella - the collaborative performance with Astrid that seeks to dissolve the boundary between dance and music, so you can see the music and hear the dance.

Using fragments from earlier works by La Mia Bella Sorella and OB(E)JECT, the sisters create a new performance where composition, improvisation, dance and sound continuously influence each other. It is an afternoon about roles and freedom, body and sound, tradition and renewal - and about what can happen when two artists move into each other's field.
