Smooth Oscillator

NOTE: This is a work-in-progress showing - not a finished performance, but an insight into a creative process.

Smooth Oscillator is a duet in an intimate black box setting, created by choreographers and dancers Max Wallmeier (DE/DK) and Lisa Colette Bysheim (NO). The two explore the ambiguity of human perception, drawing on concepts of time and hyperreality. The audience enters a dynamic, speculative universe where time flows differently, bodies transform into landscapes, and the boundary between reality and fiction constantly shifts.

The work has grown from an ongoing collaboration and shared interest in speculative fiction, exploring the interplay between voice, movement, and sound. Bysheim and Wallmeier have worked together since 2022, approaching choreography through rigorous physical practice combined with an interest in the possibilities of the voice. They investigate especially the interplay between recognizable, familiar forms and those moments when perception shifts, and new, multiple meanings emerge.

The work-in-progress showing of Smooth Oscillator takes place as part of their residency at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium, in collaboration with Bora Bora.
