VILDNIS - experimental theatre: Thursday 13 May 2027, 19:00–20:30, Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium, Holstebro. Tickets cost 60–150 kr.

"Grass grows out of my skull." VILDNIS explores the inner voices we all carry within us and how difficult it can be to navigate between them. These voices are inherited and culturally embedded, shaping our self-image often without our awareness.

The performance follows a strict structure of rules, choices, and constraints. Yet it is never the same from one evening to the next: playwright Abelone Koppel has written 80 short texts, and each performance activates a new selection. Performers Charlotte Elizabeth Munksgaard and Villads Bugge Bang receive the evening's texts via earpieces and lend their voices to them as simultaneous interpreters.

Sol Ravns scenography and lighting design leave the space bare and transparent, making the mechanisms visible. Director Anika Barkan and composer Mika Forsling stand behind the work as discrete architects, controlling text selection, choreographic shifts, and musical progression. The audience thus enters the machinery of stage art and sees how text, music, and body come together in real time. VILDNIS is created for the present moment and cannot be repeated.

VILDNIS emerges from a month of research into the playwright's role in a co-creative space, supported by the Danish Arts Foundation. The goal is to develop new Danish drama that challenges the traditional role where playwrights typically write alone outside the rehearsal room. Here, the texts were written during rehearsals, in workshops spread over a year.
