Workshop in the Plaster Studio: Oil Painting & Nature with Anne-Louise Blicher
Thorvaldsens Museum, Copenhagen · 75 kr. · ≈ 10 €
Oil painting workshop with Anne-Louise Blicher: 21 November – 5 December 2026, Thorvaldsens Museum, Copenhagen. Tickets cost 75 kr.
Artist Anne Louise Blicher teaches oil painting and offers insight into her own artistic practice, where nature is understood as sensed ecology rather than a classical ideal. The workshop draws on the museum's special exhibition "Life, Longing and Landscape", which showcases landscape paintings from the golden age in Thorvaldsen's Painting Collection. Instead of grand vistas, the focus is on detail - bark texture, beech tree crowns and the geometric patterns in nature's smallest components.
The workshop lasts two hours. It begins with a brief introduction to the exhibition, after which participants go down to the museum's workshop, the Plaster Studio, to paint their own landscape motif using oil painting and natural fragments as a starting point. No experience is necessary, and you take your work home after the workshop.
Anne Louise Blicher studied classical painting at Florence Academy of Art in Gothenburg and Florence and holds a postgraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. Her work moves between classical painting techniques and a contemporary, sustainable approach to materials, focusing on sculptural painting that explores the body's relationship to space, architecture and nature.
