Anne Carson Close Reading with Mathilde Moestrup: Wednesday 25 November 2026, 19:00–20:30, BIBLIOTEKET Rentemestervej, Copenhagen. Admission is free.

What does a line break mean? A comma in the right place? A particular word choice or the perfect metaphor? Together with translator Mathilde Moestrup, we explore the details of Anne Carson's texts - challenging and rewarding to read.

No preparation needed from home - just bring your enthusiasm for reading. Texts will be shared, read aloud, and we'll try to understand what drives literature's inner workings. This way, everyone gets a boost to their reading experience.

Anne Carson (b. 1950) is one of contemporary literature's most distinctive voices, and it came as no surprise when she received the Nobel Prize in Literature this October. Her poems, essays, and translations contain wisdom, linguistic elegance, and strong emotions. Rebekka Bundgaard, culture editor at Atlas, has written about Carson that "her books are small treasures. Not because they describe life's beauty, but because every single sentence feels like a gift you can unwrap a thousand times, and it will still feel new." She also points to the originality of her sentences and how each page is always in dialogue with other literature.

The event "Anne Carson Close Reading" is held in collaboration with ATLAS Magazine and Føljeton, which together run the literary newsletter Læsevejr. It is free but requires registration via Billetto, and takes place in the Hall on the 3rd floor.
