This lecture introduces the fundamental concepts of quantum physics and the so-called "quantum revolution" - the development of technologies based on the most paradoxical phenomena of quantum mechanics. The talk explores how quantum computers work and what they can be used for.

The lecturer is Klaus Mølmer, professor of quantum physics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen.

Risskov Bibliotek on Fortebakken is one of the larger branch libraries in Aarhus, part of Aarhus Bibliotekerne. About: Klaus Mølmer

One of Denmark's leading theoretical physicists, Mølmer has shaped the field through the Mølmer-Sørensen gate, now used in top quantum computing labs worldwide. He is equally at home on stage as in the lab, translating the paradoxes of the quantum world into terms any curious mind can grasp.

Mølmer received the Carlsberg Foundation Research Prize 2025 for his groundbreaking research in theoretical quantum optics and quantum mechanics; the prize was presented by the Queen at a ceremony at Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek.
