Description was written before the event

Miabella is an orchestra that moves freely between avantgarde, folk, noise, jazz, pop, free jazz and Nordic sound - no two concerts are alike. On stage they explore themes of freedom, femininity, hysteria and longing, performing in designs by dopeDivaZ.

Since 2025, the orchestra has played at Alice (Nørrebro), Gimle, Operaen - Christiania and Christianshavns Beboerhus among others. In February 2026 they created a tiny house live session with art and performance group DopeDivaZ. Leading the ensemble is Miamaja Vinther, a trained saxophonist and songwriter with a background in creativity theory.

The orchestra features: Miamaja Vinther (vocals, saxophone & composition), Selma Lind (trumpet & vocals), Solveig Lindelof (trumpet & vocals), Minna Mazanti (vocals), Petra Mejer Lange (vocals), Agnes Navne (synth & vocals), Casper Skou-Due (drums & vocals), Elliot Fryman (percussion & vibraphone), Frederik Berg (bass), Zoé Koriander Tan (bass) and Jonas Paulsen (guitar). Concerts are performed with a selection of the musicians.

About the venue: Brønshøj Vandtårn

Brønshøj Vandtårn is a listed functionalist water tower from 1928, designed by architect Ib Lunding in reinforced concrete and standing 34 metres tall. It supplied Copenhagen with water until 1999 and has since been converted into a cultural venue. Inside, the ceiling soars more than 20 metres overhead, giving the space a striking reverberation that shapes everything from black metal and poetry to sound art and exhibitions. The tower is run by the cultural centre Pilegården and has no fixed opening hours - the programme determines when the doors are open.

About: Miamaja Vinther

Miamaja Vinther - saxophonist, singer, and songwriter - stands at the centre of Miabella, an ensemble that fuses Nordic sound traditions, choir, brass, and avant-garde into a universe that never sounds the same twice. In the duo SVANGER, she and trumpeter Selma Lind Thormann probe what two melodic instruments can build from folk roots, loops, and effects.
