Writing Workshop: Family History Writing
BIBLIOTEKET Rentemestervej, Copenhagen · Free
This workshop explores how to write about your family - both as non-fiction and as literary narrative. You'll gain tools to create engaging texts, whether you're writing for close family or aiming for a broader audience. The session includes short writing exercises, concrete examples, and time for discussion and feedback.
The instructor is Marie Østergaard Knudsen, author and editor. She runs skrivditliv.nu and Forlaget Eftermiddag and has written "Tell Your Life", "How to Write Your Memoirs" and "Write About Your Family". In November 2026 she publishes the novel "You Must Not Write About Mother" with Forlaget Alhambra.
This workshop is part of Copenhagen Public Libraries' monthly writing workshops - standalone two-hour sessions with varying themes and instructors. It takes place 10:00-12:00 at BIBLIOTEKET Rentemestervej, 2nd floor in Mødeværket, accessible via the main staircase or elevator from the library's main entrance. The event is aimed at adults.
Participation is free but requires registration on Billetto. Computers are not provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - there are generally no desks, so you'll likely need to hold materials in your lap. Bring your own water and snacks. Questions can be directed to literature coordinator Felix: w48m@kk.dk
