Shootingstar on Violin
The Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival presents young Swedish-Norwegian violinist Johan Dalene at Sønderborg Slot. Dalene has attracted international attention - the French newspaper Le Monde describes how he makes his Stradivarius sing like a master - and in 2019 he won the prestigious Carl Nielsen Competition after studying in Stockholm.
For the evening he is paired with Norwegian pianist Christian Ihle Hadland, with whom he has collaborated for several years on Nordic music. The programme ranges from short works by Swedish composer Amanda Röntgen-Maier to Edvard Grieg's dramatic third violin sonata, with Nordic dances and folk melodies along the way.
The evening also includes Wilhelm Stenhammar's late-Romantic sonata - written for Swedish violinist Tor Aulin - as well as Aulin's own work Four Watercolours.
