Swedish-Norwegian violinist Johan Dalene performs at Sønderborg Slot with pianist Christian Ihle Hadland in a programme of Nordic classical music from the Romantic era to the present.
Johan Dalene is a Swedish-Norwegian violinist born on 5 August 2000 in Norrköping, who has rapidly become one of the most talked-about classical soloists of his generation. He won the Carl Nielsen International Competition in 2019 and was named Gramophone's Young Artist of the Year in 2022. Dalene studied with Per Enoksson and Janine Jansen at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, and performs on a 1736 Stradivarius on loan from the Anders Sveaas' Charitable Foundation. He records exclusively for BIS and released his sixth album on the label in November 2025.
Dalene released his sixth album on BIS in November 2025 with the Mendelssohn and Bruch concertos as well as Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending.
The Strad featured Dalene on the cover of its December 2025 issue and highlighted him as a 25-year-old star in the violin world.
The Strad reviewed Dalene's performance at Alsion Concert Hall in Sønderborg on 11 September 2025 with a program consisting of Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Ysaÿe.
Dalene will tour Europe with the Philharmonia Orchestra and conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen to perform Magnus Lindberg's First Violin Concerto.
Dalene received the Critics' Circle Young Talent Award for his performances in 2023.
