Jazz at the Living Room feat. Michael Olsen

The Sønderjyske Hustrio presents this concert at Sønderborghus, featuring saxophonist Michael Olsen as guest soloist. Olsen is a regular member of Aarhus Jazz Orchestra and has moved throughout his career from intimate jazz settings to major pop successes - including work with TV-2.

The trio behind the evening brings together three musicians with diverse backgrounds. Pianist Steffan Grarup graduated from Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in 2017 and also plays with the experimental folk band Sjælfugle. Bassist Niels Præstholm brings over forty years on the Danish jazz scene: he began in Copenhagen's jazz circles with figures like Kenny Drew, Ernie Wilkins, Teddy Wilson, Richard Boone and Sahib Shihab, and has since worked as conductor and composer with the orchestra Embla in Nordic jazz and improvisation. Drummer Chris Falkenberg works across multiple projects - including Sjælfugle - and develops his own system for electronic processing of the drum kit.
