Britten's Violin Concerto with Baiba Skride

This concert juxtaposes two British composers of the same generation: Britten and Walton were both active around the Second World War, but with strikingly different voices. Britten cultivated an introverted musical language marked by clarity and psychological depth, while Walton was more forceful and rhythmic - clearly influenced by Stravinsky, jazz, and late Romanticism.

Latvian violinist Baiba Skride is the soloist in Britten's Violin Concerto, with Yoel Gamzou conducting.
