Writing Workshop: The Written Desire
Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen · Free
This workshop explores how to write love scenes convincingly - depicting attraction and intimacy in a way that feels authentic and sensual without becoming clumsy or clichéd. Drawing on examples from both contemporary and classic literature, the workshop alternates between presentations and writing exercises, allowing you to experiment with techniques and find your own voice for the erotic, the emotional, and the physical - regardless of genre.
The workshop is divided into two parts: the first focuses on "the first meeting" and depicting attraction, while the second explores eroticism, desire, and the physical.
The instructor is Johanne Bille (b. 1993), who debuted in 2015 and has since written 11 novels. In 2024, she published the romance series Boghandel Blåregn, which concluded with the seventh and final volume.
The workshop takes place at Copenhagen's Main Library, 4th floor, and is aimed at adults. Participation is free but requires registration on Billetto. Bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - desk space is very limited, so you'll likely need to work with materials in your lap; a writing board for paper/notepad will be provided. On the 4th floor there is a water station and coffee machine, so bring a water jug or bottle. Questions can be directed to literature coordinator Poul-Louis at i343@kk.dk.
