First Aid for Babies & Toddlers Supported by TrygFonden — Kildevæld Kulturcenter, Copenhagen
Free entry

TrygFonden supports this English-language baby first aid course, open to parents, grandparents, and anyone interested in the subject. The instructor is Marianne Mogensen - a physiotherapist, ergonomics teacher, and certified instructor under the Danish First Aid Council. Pregnant women are welcome, and babies aged 0-12 months can attend free of charge. Registration is per adult.

The teaching combines theory with practical exercises in small groups using special Junior & Baby resuscitation manikins. The programme covers the four steps of first aid, consciousness assessment, airway checks, cardiopulmonary resuscitation for babies and toddlers, recovery position, correct emergency calling, and AED use. Choking and airway obstruction are practised thoroughly. Additionally, a brief overview is given of serious infection, falls, burns, poisoning, febrile convulsions, and wounds and bleeding. All participants and couples receive an English first aid handbook to take home.

The course takes place in Kultursalen on the ground floor of Kildevæld Kulturcenter - there is space for prams in the room. Bring a yoga mat or similar and snacks. The manikins can send feedback directly to your mobile via the QCPR app from Laerdal, which can be downloaded free from Google Play and the App Store - download it before the course if you like.

When the workshop ends, children's librarian Birgitte sets up a pop-up library so you can borrow picture books to take home to your child. Remember to have the library app ready and your membership active before you arrive.
