Writing Workshop: Nonsense Poetry

Nonsense and gibberish are a proud literary tradition, probably as old as language itself. Using Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" as the ultimate classic and drawing on other examples, we'll practice the noble art of not making sense - at a high and distinctive level.

The workshop is led by Peter Adolphsen (born 1972), who has received the Zinklar Prize and a lifetime honour among other accolades. His recent publications include "Small Stories 4" (Gyldendal, 2024, short prose) and "Your Green Clop" (Melodika, 2024, nonsense sonnet crown).

The event is free but requires registration on Billetto. It takes place at Copenhagen's Main Library, 4th floor (room: LIVE), and is aimed at adults. No computers are provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen. Desk space is very limited, and you'll likely need to balance your computer or paper on your lap - a writing board can be borrowed. The floor has a water station and coffee machine, but no other refreshments, so bring your own drinks.

The 4th floor is reached from the main entrance on Krystalgade via lift or stairs (both to the right in the Central Hall), or by escalator to the 3rd floor and then stairs to the right. The performance area is to the right when you arrive at the floor. The workshop lasts two hours and consists of a presentation and writing exercises - it's a standalone event, not part of a series.
