Writing Workshop - Family History Writing
Øbro Jagtvej Bibliotek, Copenhagen · Free
Do you want to put words to a person or a branch of your family? This two-hour workshop gives you concrete writing tools - whether you're writing for those closest to you or a broader readership.
Instructor Marie Østergaard Knudsen (b. 1971) is an author and editor who specializes in helping people write readably about their own lives and family history. She runs skrivditliv.nu and Forlaget Eftermiddag and has published "Tell Your Life. How to Write Your Memoirs" and "Write About Your Family. How to Tell Stories About Others and Be Read". In November 2026, her novel "You Must Not Write About Mom" will be published by Forlaget Alhambra.
The programme alternates between presentations and writing exercises. Marie Østergaard Knudsen covers both non-fiction and literary techniques: what makes language come alive, and how to structure a writing process from start to finish.
The workshop takes place in the meeting room on the 3rd floor. There are no computers available, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen. Copenhagen Libraries arranges similar workshops with changing themes and instructors each month around the city.
