Masterclass by Visual Artist Pernille Emilia Kjær: Rhizomatic Formations - Mycelium as Material and Method (Part 2)

In the second part of the masterclass, visual artist Pernille Emilia Kjær works with "myco dough" - a moldable, clay-based mycelium mass. The workshop builds on the cultivation techniques from part 1 and focuses on the material's sculptural potential. Work is primarily with oyster mushrooms, but there is also the opportunity to experiment with reishi mycelium. Everyone is welcome, including those who did not participate in part 1.

The workshop begins with a shared conversation about initial experiences with mycelium, while the results from the previous session are studied. Participants are encouraged to bring materials, objects, molds, or other items from their own practice so that mycelium can be integrated into individual work. The workshop can also be used to work on concrete contributions to AVAL's Open Call for the exhibition Materia Modify, held in Hospitalshaven in May 2027 - see more at https://aval-hospitalshaven.dk
