Learn More About Olive Oil — Skibet FB44, Copenhagen

A lecture and tasting event organized by the sister-owned olive oil producer Casa di Rosa, run by Ellen and Mette Lundqvist. Ellen, who has lived in Italy since 2001 and worked with olive oil since 2013, shares insights into Umbria, olive tree care, harvesting and pressing - and explains why oil from the same trees can taste different from year to year. She covers olive oil qualities, cold pressing and the challenges of olive cultivation. Mette handles administration and storage from Roskilde. The lecture is accompanied by photographs from the Montecchio area in Umbria and from the harvest and processing at the local mill.

As a special part of the evening, photographer Jeanette Philipsen discusses the creation of images for the sisters' newly published book "The Year in the Olive Grove".

During the event, we taste six olive oils: last year's harvest, this year's harvest, a DOP, a couple of specialty oils and a popular supermarket oil for comparison. Bread with gluten is served - if you have a gluten allergy, you can bring gluten-free bread. A glass of wine and water are included. The lecture lasts approximately two and a half hours including a break, and after the lecture there is an opportunity to purchase oil from this year's harvest.

Skibet opens at 18:00, and the event starts at 18:30. Note: Skibet has stairs and no elevator. Parking on Refshaleøen can be difficult - arrive in good time, and note that there is no parking on the quay in front of the ship. Almost all roads on Refshaleøen are called Refshalevej, so the number 169 E is important when searching for the address in Google. See map showing the location of FB44 in relation to Harbour Bus 992 and Bus 24.
