A Portion of Your Land - Classical Choir Music and Community Singing at Sallerupgård · Sallerupgård, Lundby
Description was written before the event

Chamber choir Nordglød and farmer Søren Madsen invite you to a concert in the machine shed at Sallerupgård - an active, organic farm with dairy cattle by Avnø fjord. The programme centres on humanity's relationship with nature and the Danish landscape: from the harvest hymn "You gave me, O Lord, a portion of your land" to a newly composed arrangement of Jeppe Aakjær's "Still heart, sun goes down", written especially for Nordglød by award-winning composer Gustav Ertbølle. The choir sings classical a cappella music in 4-8-part arrangements, and the audience is invited to join in with a selection of well-known community songs from the Højskole Songbook. Throughout the afternoon, Søren Madsen shares stories about life as a modern farmer on a large organic farm.

The afternoon begins at 13:00 with a walk through the landscape by the fjord, plus the chance to meet the cows and buy coffee, cake, or wine. The concert itself starts at 15:00. Your ticket covers the entire event, regardless of how much you participate in.

There are chairs in the machine shed, and the space is partially heated - bring a warm jacket and a blanket if you can.

Nordglød is led by conductor Karen Ertbølle Madsen, trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. The event is supported by the Local Association Fund of the Educational Associations, the Danish Educational Association's Green Everyday initiative, and the Cultural Strategy Fund of Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality.
