The concert In Memoriam explores the nature of war - its phases and its victims. It is both a memorial to tragedies of the past and a response to a world at war once again.

Ensemble Hermes performs an hour of music by Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Vivaldi and Strauss. The musicians' placement and movement in the performance space dramatize the narrative.

About the venue: Slesvigske Musikhus

Slesvigske Musikhus is a concert hall on Louisevej in Haderslev, inaugurated on 21 November 2008. Designed by Zeni Arkitekter of Aabenraa, it was built through a collaboration between the Danish Armed Forces and Haderslev Municipality, with funding from the A.P. Møller Foundation. The hall seats 149 and is home to Slesvigske Musikkorps, one of the three full-time professional military bands in Denmark. Haderslev Kammermusikforening also holds concerts here, and the local music school uses the practice rooms for tuition.

About: Ensemble Hermes

Seven young string players from Aarhus who, since 2018, have crafted conductor-free concerts built around bold thematic ideas - ranging from intimate chamber music to full string orchestra. As Artist in Residence at Musikhuset Aarhus in 2025-2026, they place classical music in dialogue with dance, visual art and new compositions.

Ensemble Hermes released the album FindAndYouWillSeek in collaboration with composer and pianist Christian Balvig - a neoclassical album composed for the ensemble's seven strings.

Ensemble Hermes and Christian Balvig toured with FindAndYouWillSeek concerts in Copenhagen, Odense, Ry and Aarhus, with a specially designed video installation by artist Kaspar Vig as the visual frame.

Ensemble Hermes performed at Klassisk tirsdag in Musikhusparken in Aarhus, where the audience voted on the repertoire with DR P2 host Charlotte Norholt as guide.
