HJEM

A house is drawn into being. One person lives there. Another moves in. Two people try to figure out how to live together - how to share rhythms, routines, and space when they are different. The audience is invited close up as the home becomes a stage and the stage becomes a home.

The performance asks questions about what is familiar and fragile in sharing space with others: Is home a physical place? A feeling? A person? In a time marked by unrest, loneliness, and polarization, HJEM explores our ability to be together with people we don't necessarily resemble or understand - while closeness, distance, longing, and irritation alternate.

The performance is presented as relaxed theatre with few rules. The audience can move around, take breaks, or simply observe, and the shared experience doesn't need to be the same for everyone.

HJEM is created by Kaosteater in co-production with Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium and in collaboration with dramatist and director Regina Rex. The performance is developed based on conversations with locals in Holstebro from, among others, Kirkens Korshær's warm room, Asylcenteret Nybobakke, and Holstebro Church. Kaosteater works with experimental and socially engaged performance art, often in unconventional spaces. Regina Rex contributes a poetic and conceptual dramatic language shaped by her own experiences as a nomadic artist, where home is always fleeting and negotiable. World premiere on 11 November 2026 at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium; the performance also plays in Aarhus.
