About

Ashwani Shankar is an Indian shehnai player from the Banaras gharana, a musical lineage with over 450 years of unbroken tradition. Trained by his father Pt. Daya Shankar and his grandfather, the legendary Pt. Anant Lal, he performs internationally alongside his brother Sanjeev Shankar. The duo have received the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Aditya Vikram Birla Kalakiran Award.
