Dybfølt is a Danish duo formed by cellist Kirstine Elise Pedersen and double bassist Mathæus Bech, both conservatory-trained musicians with roots in classical music and Nordic folk traditions. Working with the two lowest-pitched instruments in the string family, they have built a distinctive sound that blends classical precision with folk vitality and experimental textures. The duo has devoted sustained attention to the music of Else Marie Pade, releasing two albums on Dacapo Records in 2024 - 'Sange fra en væg' with singer Kira Martini and 'Syv cirkler', an acoustic reworking of Pade's landmark 1958 electronic piece. Their 2025 Christmas album 'Decembersol' expands the ensemble with guest musicians to reimagine Danish and Nordic winter songs.
Dybfølt released the Christmas album 'Decembersol' on Dacapo Records - digitally on October 24 and on CD on November 21, 2025 - with Nordic and Danish winter songs performed by an expanded ensemble.
Dybfølt and Kira Martini received the P2 Prize 2024 ('The Five Best') for the album 'Sange fra en væg'.
On November 15, 2024, Dybfølt released the EP 'Syv cirkler' - an acoustic interpretation of Else Marie Pade's electronic masterwork from 1958 for cello and double bass.
Dybfølt performed at the tribute concert for Else Marie Pade's 100th birthday at DR Koncerthuset on December 2, 2024.
Dybfølt released the album 'Sange fra en væg' on Dacapo Records in March 2024 - nine songs by Else Marie Pade from Frøslev Camp during World War II, performed with singer Kira Martini.
