Acoustic Lounge — KunstSmedjen på Musicon, Roskilde

Acoustic Lounge was founded over 10 years ago by percussionists Mikkel Schnettler and Michael Hartvig with the vision of building an orchestra around percussion rather than a drum kit. The rhythms are created with instruments from around the world - from Tibetan finger cymbals to Brazilian surdo drums.

The band features a strong roster of soloists: bassist Jesper Bodilsen and saxophonist Gabor Bolla have both been active on the Danish and international jazz scene for over 20 years, and vocalist/pianist Søren Baun is currently making his mark on Copenhagen's jazz scene. The repertoire ranges from standards like "One Note Samba" and "Alone Together" to new interpretations of songs associated with Elvis, Janelle Monáe and Pharrell.

Jesper Bodilsen - bass: Winner of the Django d'Or award in 2004 as "performer of the year". Has toured the world and worked with Brad Mehldau, Phil Woods, Gregory Porter, Bill Frisell and Benny Golson, among others.

Gabor Bolla - saxophone: Received the Hans Koller Prize as "Talent of the Year" in Austria in 2004. In 2005, the Bolla quartet won both the Grand Prix and Prix du Public at the Avignon Jazz Festival. Has collaborated with Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Gary Peacock, DR Big Band and many others.

Søren Baun - vocals/piano: Singer, pianist, songwriter and arranger. Released the album "Baun On Beatles - Live at The Village" in 2019 and 5 singles under his own name. Has performed with Hans Ulrik, DR Big Band and Simon Spang-Hanssen, among others.

Michael Hartvig - percussion: Co-founder of the band. Has studied percussion in Cuba and worked with Danish artists and bands for over 20 years.

Mikkel Schnettler - percussion: Co-founder of the band. Percussionist, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Has recorded and toured with Django Bates, DR Big Band, Simon Spang-Hanssen, Zididada, Annette Heick, Rasmus Nøhr and Karen Mukupa, among others.
