Concerto Copenhagen's Christmas Concert 2026 - Helsingør
Helsingør Domkirke - Sankt Olai Kirke, Helsingør · 0–180 kr. · ≈ 24 €
Concerto Copenhagen's Christmas concert explores two fundamental moods of the season: the joy of anticipation at the birth of Jesus and the peace sought in the world. In the musical imagery of the Baroque, this peace is often expressed through pastorals - scenes where shepherds at Bethlehem are cradled by soft, flowing rhythms. Among them is Bach's aria "Schafe können sicher weiden", where sheep graze safely under a good shepherd's gaze.
The concert's repertoire has Johann Sebastian Bach as its guiding star, but also includes rarely heard works by Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann David Heinichen, Johann Christoph Pez, Johann Kuhnau and Christoph Graupner.
Concerto Copenhagen is conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen, and the soloist is English soprano Joanne Lunn. The concert takes place at Helsingør Domkirke - Sankt Olai Kirke.
