Fermentation Workshop: Transform Your Scraps into New Flavours - Skraldival — Silkeborg Bibliotek, Silkeborg

Every year, large quantities of edible food end up in the bin - food scraps and forgotten vegetables from the fridge. This workshop gives you the tools to reverse that trend: you'll learn basic fermentation techniques so that surplus from your kitchen and garden can become durable, delicious products.

During the workshop, you'll make three fermentations of organic vegetables that you take home with you. Along the way, different techniques are covered with a focus on flavour, shelf-life, and beneficial bacteria, with plenty of room for questions and individual guidance. Lotte and Per from Den bæredygtige vej lead the instruction.

The location is Skolekøkkenet at Balleskolen, Balle Kirkevej 120, 8600 Silkeborg - not the library itself. There is space for a maximum of 16 participants. Bring three jars of approximately 850 ml - Weck jars or patent jars are recommended. If you need jars, 850 ml Weck jars can be pre-ordered for 50 kr. each via denbaeredygtigevej@gmail.com

The workshop is part of Skraldival, an annual festival in week 38 focused on waste minimization and reuse, organized by Silkeborg Municipality, Silkeborg Forsyning, and Silkeborg Libraries. Read more at silkeborgbib.dk/skraldival
