Plant Dyeing
Foreningshuset – Sønderborg Kaserne, Sønderborg
Learn to dye wool yarn with natural plants - from collecting plants to the finished result from the dye pot. The course alternates between theory and practice, covering mordanting, dye plants, and various dyeing methods so you can continue with natural dyeing on your own afterwards.
During the course you can dye up to approximately 150 g of wool yarn - enough for a scarf, for example. You will work with both prepared dye baths and dye pots that we set up together.
Bring: packed lunch, rubber gloves, a bucket, scissors, an undyed cotton yarn for binding thread, mordanted yarn, and notebook and pencil (or phone for notes). Wear practical clothing, as the instruction takes place outdoors under a half-roof.
Material cost: approximately 50 kr., paid directly to the instructor. Mordanted wool yarn can be ordered from the instructor - the price is also agreed directly.
