Sewing Clothes from Old Embroidered Textiles in Sønderborg - Weekend Course

Sewing clothes from old embroidered textiles: Saturday 31 October 2026, 10:00–16:00, Foreningshuset – Sønderborg Kaserne, Sønderborg. Tickets cost 795 kr.

On this weekend course, you work creatively with old embroidered textiles and sew them into new clothes. An old Christmas tablecloth can become a festive Christmas shirt or dress, while an embroidered runner or placemat can be incorporated into an entirely new design - you decide what you want to create.

You will receive help finding the best solution for your textiles and can work from your own sewing pattern. If you don't bring a pattern, there is a small selection to borrow, and the instructor will help with simple constructions based on your own measurements. The course is about combining old embroidery with new materials, so the textiles get a new function and a personal expression.

Bring:
- Embroidered tablecloths, Christmas tablecloths, runners, placemats or other textiles you want to reuse
- Matching fabric to supplement with, if desired
- Scissors, safety pins, sewing needles and thread
- Pattern paper, pencil and pattern weights
- Measuring tape
- Buttons, ribbons and other details you want to use
- A sewing pattern, if you have a specific design in mind

Sewing machines are available in the room, but you are also welcome to bring your own. The instructor will also bring materials and tools, and there will be an opportunity to buy individual materials on the day.
