Lecture: Anne Haubek & Thomas Ubbesen - 'The War at Europe's End'

Anne Haubek and Thomas Ubbesen are former DR journalists who have travelled throughout Ukraine since the war began, documenting the Ukrainian people's struggle for survival - both physical and psychological. They have written several books and countless articles on Ukraine, Eastern Europe, and Russia.

In this lecture, they bring testimony from dozens of ordinary Ukrainians - soldiers, civilians, young people and grandparents - people who have lived with the consequences of war every single moment since Putin's full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022. The lecture also provides an overview of the current military and international political situation.

In August 2026, their book 'War at the End of Europe' is published by Gyldendal - the first comprehensive account in Danish of the first four years of full-scale war in Ukraine. After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to buy and have books signed.

The event is part of the Golden Days festival, running from 4-20 September with over 150 cultural-historical events in the Copenhagen area. This year's theme is 'Monster'. Questions can be directed to Anne Hermansen at aher@rudersdal.dk.
