The History of Vestegnen - From Agricultural Region to Welfare Suburb

The Secret Society for History gathers at Sønderborg Library for a lecture and discussion on historical topics. This autumn's programme features three events, this one focusing on the development of Western Copenhagen from an agricultural area to a suburb.

Using the Finger Plan from 1947 as a starting point, the lecture traces Western Copenhagen's transformation and its role in building the modern welfare state. The speaker is Pauline Wedel Kaalund, historian and museum inspector at Kroppedal Museum. The lecture is broadcast live from a location in Denmark and lasts approximately 30 minutes, followed by group discussion.

No preparation is necessary, but participants can receive suggestions for articles and literature if they wish to explore the topic further.
