Debut of the Month: Nana Fatou

Nana Fatou's debut collection 'Toubab' explores what it means to have roots in two countries - Denmark and Gambia - and to have a family that is both your own and somehow distant. The poems move through themes of race, migration, love and grief, while also capturing quiet, almost wordless moments where people struggle to understand each other.

The book received a warm reception but also sparked a discussion about the boundaries of poetry itself: what exactly is a poem, and what do we expect from literature when new voices speak?

On Monday, November 24 at 17:00-18:15, you will meet Nana Fatou at the Debut of the Month event on LIVE, Store Scene, 4th floor, Copenhagen Main Library. She will talk about the work behind 'Toubab', about writing on belonging and migration, and about the conversation the book has started. Literary mediator Mathias Emil Stenrøs will interview her. Nana Fatou (born 2000) grew up in Sønderborg and studies at the Writers' School. Prior knowledge of the book is not necessary.

Free entry with ticket. Note that the view of the stage is limited from certain seats. The 4th floor is reached from the Central Library Hall (entrance from Krystalgade) via elevator or stairs to the right, or via escalators to the 3rd floor and then up one flight of stairs - the stage area is to the right.
