Mathias Emil Stenrøs

About

Mathias Emil Stenrøs is a literature communicator and librarian at Københavns Biblioteker, based at the main library in Copenhagen. He serves as festival director of Christianshavns Bogfestival - a neighbourhood literary festival running since 2004 - and writes about books for the Læsefest book club on Mikrofest. His focus is on reaching new and younger readers, and on giving emerging Nordic voices a platform.

    Christianshavns Bogfestival 2026 (27.-31. May) brought together young Danish author talents and winners of the Nordic Council Literature Prize for five days of readings, performances and communal dining - with Stenrøs as festival director.

    Stenrøs contributed to Læsefest at Mikrofest with an article about Didier Eribons 'Returning to Reims' and about imagination in Danish literature.

    Christianshavns Bogfestival 2025 (1.-6. April) gained a new Nordic profile with eight of the Nordic region's most prominent young authors, and Stenrøs served as festival director behind the new direction.

    Christianshavns Bogfestival 2024 took place 15.-30. April with the theme 'covers' and events at the library and around the district.
