Writing Workshop: Family History Writing

Do you have a person or family in your ancestry you'd like to write about? This workshop gives you the tools to do exactly that - whether you're writing for close family or aiming for a broader audience.

Instructor Marie Østergaard Knudsen (born 1971) covers literary and narrative techniques, what characterizes good writing, and how to structure a writing process. She is an author and editor focused on helping people write engagingly about their own lives and family history. She runs skrivditliv.nu and Forlaget Eftermiddag, and has written "Tell Your Life: How to Write Your Memoirs" and "Write About Your Family: How to Tell Stories About Others and Be Read". In November 2026, she is publishing the novel "You Must Not Write About Mom" with Forlaget Alhambra.

The workshop is free but requires registration on Billetto. It lasts two hours and takes place in the library room at Nørrebro Bibliotek, likely with classroom-style seating, so you'll have your computer, tablet, or paper in your lap. There is no opportunity to charge electronics during the workshop, so paper and pen may be an advantage - remember to bring what you need for the writing exercises.
