Immerse Yourself in Science - Coffee

Three researchers examine coffee from multiple angles: the biology of the coffee plant, cultivation and processing, sustainable production, the impact of climate change on the future of coffee, and the health aspects of drinking it.

Aske Skovmand Bosselmann is a lecturer at the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen and has spent the past fifteen years researching the global coffee sector - including producers' adaptation to climate change, agroforestry, and private initiatives for sustainable development. Anders S. Barfod is an associate professor emeritus at the Department of Biology at Aarhus University, where he researches tropical plant resources with a focus on the mango family and palms, and has conducted research projects in South America, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Africa. Dr. Kjeld Hermansen is an associate professor emeritus at Aarhus University and adjunct professor at the University of Copenhagen, researching clinical nutrition, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes.

The lecture is livestreamed from Søauditorierne in Universitetsparken, Aarhus University, and typically lasts two hours including a 20-minute break midway through and a question session where questions can be submitted via SMS. Some lecturers subsequently answer in writing the questions that did not get answered during the lecture.
